"A two-man performance that is part musical, part acrobatic"

Multi-tasking got an all-new meaning in this highly entertaining theatrical event, as two musicians took on over 20 instruments to recreate an influential piece of classic rock.

Released in 1973, Mike Oldfield’s Celtic-folk-rock opus Tubular Bells was perhaps the most unlikely smash hit record ever released. In 2012 and nearly 40 years later, two Aussie musicians took on the ambitious task of performing this demanding work in full and with no extra hands.

In an intricately choreographed performance, multi-instrumentalists Daniel Holdsworth and Aidan Roberts frantically juggle pianos, organs, electric guitars, acoustic, bass and Spanish guitars, mandolin, tuned percussion, drums, glockenspiel, loop pedals, synthesizers and, of course, tubular bells.

It sounds completely chaotic and it was, but somehow they managed to pull it all together, bringing Oldfield’s masterpiece to life with all of its multi-layered madness and subtle beauty intact.
