Following two hugely successful UK tours and sell-out runs in London’s West End, this riveting adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s award-winning book came to the Festival.

One of the world's best-known children's writers, Michael Morpurgo is the author of book such as Aesop's Fables and War Horse. At Festival 2012, another of Michael’s stories, Private Peaceful, took us back to the trenches. Forget dusty history books, in this play we vividly relived the drama of WWI through the memories of a brave young soldier - Private ‘Tommo’ Peaceful - over one long and fateful night. 

The brilliant Scamp Theatre company (Aesop’s Fables) brought this theatre adaptation to life.  Like War Horse, the play explored the loves, losses and adventures of war – it was a riveting production for audiences both young and old.
