Ebooks may be revolutionising the way many of us read, but there’s still nothing like browsing through the shelves of a bookshop or snuggling up in bed turning the pages of a real book. Books are works of art that line our homes and lives, and the childhood bookshelf is an evocative, redolent and powerful touchstone.

As the digital age continues to rise will future generations view books as dusty old relics? In this session, Victoria University Press publisher Fergus Barrowman, Unity Books co-owner and manager Tilly Lloyd and Scottish novelist Denise Mina discussed the place of books in our lives, the future of the physical book and the rapidly changing publishing technology. Kathryn Ryan chaired.
