Four poets came together to read from their work and discuss the wider world of anthologising poetry. How are selections made? What makes a poem stand out?

British poet Michael Hulse’s own collections Include the secret history, he also co-edited The 20th century in poetry. Harry Ricketts’ Latest collection is just then and he recently Co-edited 99 ways into New Zealand poetry. Fiona Farrell’s latest work, the broken book, Is a meandering travel book interrupted by 20 poems about the Christchurch earthquakes. Poet and anthologist Bill Manhire, whose latest collection is the victims of lightning, led the session.
