American Kelly Link is described as a slipstream writer, with her style embracing a combination of science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery, magic and realism. Sitting in the Neil Gaiman vein, her recent books of short stories, The Wrong Grave and Pretty Monsters, have both adult and young adult followings.

Of Pretty Monsters, The New Statesman wrote, ‘A unique brew of pirates and wizards, undead babysitters and duelling librarians... dark, sexy and hilarious.’ Link has won a World Fantasy Award and three Nebulas for best science fiction/fantasy fiction published in the United States. She also runs Small Beer Press with her husband Gavin J. Grant. Kelly joined Elizabeth Knox in conversation.
