Gavin Bishop is a writer and illustrator with work ranging from the children’s picture book Bidibidi to his charming junior fiction memoir, Piano Rock: A 1950s Childhood. Among the many books he has illustrated are Joy Cowley’s Snake and Lizard and Diana Noonan’s Quaky Cat.

Bishop has also written and designed ballets, written television scripts and adapted stories for the stage including Kiwi Moon. Gavin has won many categories in the New Zealand Post Children’s Book Awards and has held the Ursula Bethell Residency at the University of Canterbury. As part of Young Writers and Readers Day Gavin discussed his work and read from his enchanting books.
